Meet the artist / Swansea, Wales
A pencil.
A purpose.
My name is Ryan Jones. I'm a graphite pencil artist who believes the smallest details can say the most.
The story behind Drawings by Ryan
Ryan Jones · ArtistIn my own words
My drawings
became my voice.
I was diagnosed with non-verbal autism when I was young and found it difficult to express myself through words. Drawing became another way for me to communicate and show people how I see the world.
As my skills grew, I discovered a love of graphite pencil portraits. I enjoy creating the detail in faces, the character in animals and the atmosphere of familiar places.
My approach is a little different. I begin with the eyes and draw outward, building up each portrait patiently rather than starting with the outline. I want every finished piece to feel honest, personal and full of life.
Art is still how I connect with the world, one pencil mark at a time.

I'm grateful that my art has given me opportunities to learn, meet people and share my work.
